Smoked mackerel sandwich with guacamole

A simple but oh-so-delicious sandwich with smoked mackerel and Chilean guacamole. Don't like it too spicy? Then add one pepper instead of two!

Recipe - ingredients

  • 2 avocado, in small cubes
  • 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green peppers, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, in small cubes
  • 6 cilantro sprigs, leaves only, finely chopped
  • 2 tbs olive oil, extra virgin
  • salt
  • 2 smoked jack mackerel filets
  • 2 sandwiches, cut open in half
  • 1/4 cucumber, cut into strips

Recipe - how do you make it

For this dish, Bart ventures into the galley with Chef Sandro. They sail on the ship Ventisquero, off the coast of Chile, in search of schools of Chilean jack mackerel that they catch and process responsibly for Sea Tales!

Recipe - steps

  • 1 For the guacamole, mix the avocado, onion, tomato and chili peppers in a bowl.
  • 2 Add the olive oil, lime juice and salt. Mix well and set aside.
  • 3 Tear the mackerel filet into big chunks.
  • 4 Cut open the sandwich and top it with two table spoons of the guacamole, half of the mackerel and four strips of cucumber. Finish it with the cilantro. Enjoy!
