Ikan Woku – Indonesian Fish Curry

  • 2 cans of Fair Trade tuna
  • 4 red chilis
  • 2 gloves garlic
  • 3 cm ginger
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 1 lemongrass, slightly crushed
  • 3 spring onions
  • 6 kaffir limes
  • handful basil leaves

Recipe - how do you make it

This is Ikan Woku! The favorite dish of the Indonesian fishermen in Bitung. If you like spicy, you are going to love this spicy fish curry with tuna.

Recipe - steps

  • 1 Grind the chilis, the union, the garlic and the ginger with some salt until it's a smooth paste.
  • 2 Heat a wok on medium heat. Add some oil in the pan and stir-fry the chili paste one minute. Keep stirring.
  • 3 Add the tomatoes, lemon grass, onion and stir-fry 2-3 minutes.
  • 4 Mix in the tuna and season with salt.
  • 5 Add the spring onion, kafir lime and basil leaves. Keep a few leaves to garnish.
  • 6 Serve with white rice! Enjoy!
