A classic Japanese recipe! Such an easy and quick snack or starter. But also the perfect finger food next to an ice-cold beer.
Preparation
1 Heat oil for deep-frying to 355 Fahrenheit degrees in a deep fat fryer saucepan.
2 For the sauce add soy sauce, mirin, sake, and ginger and stir well. Set aside.
3 For the tempura batter:
Crack an egg in a bowl. Add a bit of flour to the egg and give it a little whisk. Add the rest of the flour and ice-cold water, give it a whisk, but don’t over-whisk it. Dust the peeled prawns with a bit of flour and then pour into the batter.
4 Deep-fry for 3 minutes until golden and crispy. Drain the prawns on kitchen paper. Serve with the sauce and enjoy!
