Hot smoked Atlantic salmon

Our delicious hot smoked Atlantic salmon comes from the waters surrounding a tiny and remote island in northern Norway, called Kvarøy. Since 1976, Alf and his family have been pioneering here in farming the finest salmon: sustainably farmed, rich in Omega 3 fatty acids and packed with flavor. Our Atlantic smoked salmon is free of hormones, chemicals and preventive antibiotics. Try it in a salad, on a sandwich or on a pizza. Enjoy!

Our hot smoked Atlantic salmon comes from the waters around Kvarøy, a small and remote island in northern Norway. Just below the Arctic Circle, the salmon swim in clean, clear and ice-cold waters. An ideal habitat for the fish to grow up in.

Life on Kvarøy is rough. You have to have a certain mindset to live here. Alf and his family have been pioneering salmon farming here for generations. Everything here is done in a sustainable way, in harmony with nature. Alf: ‘We must leave the environment in the same or better shape than we began.’

Farming method

In the waters surrounding the island of Kvarøy, Alf and his family farm Atlantic salmon in large copper-free cages in the sea. Here the fish swim in clear, clean, ice-cold water and have 50% more space than in other farms. The salmon have everything they need to grow.

Smart innovations allow Alf and his family to monitor the salmon daily and ensure they stay healthy. The feed used in this farm is the most sustainable available today. In fact, it contains the least amount of wild fish to date! Salmon need fish to grow, which is why wild caught fish is processed into the feed. Often this means that there is more wild caught fish in the feed, than the amount of salmon produced. Which is highly inefficient. But that is not at all the case here on Kvarøy. Another plus: the addition of algae to the feed makes it extra rich in omega 3 fatty acids. Good for the salmon, and ultimately for you!
